Explore the delicious and varied cusines of Africa and learn how to prepare traditional African dishes. Enjoy their flavorful dishes using spices like pepper, chilly, cardamom, tumeric, nutmeg and pepper. We will be happy to provide some Gambian recipes shared by the Staff at the Gambian Embassy in Washington D.C. |

Here's a wonderful opportunity for students to touch and feel authentic everyday African items. The speaker will share how these items are used, giving students a flavor of life in Africa. |
Ms McFarland lived in Kenya for 9 years. While there, she became the Graphic Officer for the UN Environmental Program. Julie's been an avid crafter since childhood and especially enjoys sewing, felting, beading, knitting and crocheting. Mrs Cunningham has travelled extensively in Africa and is an experienced and knowledgeable speaker of cultural differences between Africa and the USA. Ms Eid is an adjunct French teacher at the University of Delaware and a consultant to the Advanced Placement French Program. She has lived in Paris, Geneva and Tokyo, and has travelled and lectured as well in Argentina and Egypt and visited parts of Africa. |

African beadwork serves not only as decorative jewelry, but gives us an insight into the colorful web of traditional African life. Using the basic building blocks of tiny glass or porcelain beads, this hands-on workshop will teach students the basic techniques of beading and jewelry making. |
