Our Partners

Improving healthcare in The Gambia requires a holistic approach. We are proud to provide electricity and water, the fundamental infrastructure for hospitals and clinics to function, but what about equipment and knowledgeable staff? We work closely with the following organizations.

Del-Med Aid for Gambia (www.delmedgambia.org)

Lonnie Angstadt, a physician assistant who was inspired by Power Up Gambia volunteered at the Sulayman Junkung General Hospital in January 2008. She came home determined to help. She founded Del-Med Aid for Gambia, an organization dedicated to providing medical volunteers, education and equipment to SJGH. Visit her website for more information on Del-Med and on how to get involved.

The Gambian Women's Initiative (PDF FileBlog)

In partnership with Gambian women, Carol Cunningham, Kathryn's mother and a Power Up Gambia board member, founded the Gambian Women's Initiative to empower women and improve health through social entrepreneurship. Please read the attached document for more information.

University of Strathclyde Glasgow (www.strath.ac.uk/eee/gambiaproject)

The Department of Electronic and Electrical Engineering is partnering with Power Up Gambia to develop and implement technical training for Gambians interested in a career in the solar industry. This initiative will ensure long-term sustainability of all solar projects implemented in The Gambia.

A Hand in Health (www.handinhealth.org)

Founded by Kathryn's friend and fellow Crossroader, A Hand in Health (AHIH) aims to improve healthcare and education in The Gambia.
