Rotary Clubs
We owe a big thanks to Rotary for helping to get Power Up Gambia off the ground and for their ongoing support. If your Rotary club is looking for a wonderful project, we have opportunities for all avenues of service:
- Community – We are a local charity and need volunteers for our fundraisers and professional consultants for operational projects.
- International - We have partnered with the Banjul club in The Gambia to further our work in the Gambia.
- Club - Hold a fundraiser and help continue the progress we have made in The Gambia.
- Foundation - Contribute to the Rotary Foundation today and know your donation could help bring water and electricity to a healthcare facility in The Gambia.
Power Up Gambia has partnered with Rotary to expand our mission to provide solar energy to the satellite clinics of the Sulayman Junkung General Hospital. PUG has submitted an application to the Rotary Foundation, with the support of the Banjul club, for a matching grant to supply energy to the Somita clinic. We challenge your club to donate a solar panel by raising $1000. Your donation will make a difference. Together we can improve lives in the Gambia!
Rotary News:
In September 2008, Kathryn was one of three keynote speakers invited to discuss community involvement at the Rotary Institute Zone 31-32 meeting. Kathryn told her story to 300 Rotarians about founding Power Up Gambia and its mission to transform healthcare through solar energy. Kathryn was honored to meet the president of Rotary International, D.K. Lee from South Korea. (see photo)
It is our hope to continue to build upon our strong relationship with Rotary. Many clubs have invited us to share our mission, made financial contributions and medical supply donations:
